The NFL players union responded to President Trump’s decision to disinvite the Philadelphia Eagles from the White House Tuesday morning, saying they are “disappointed” that the team will not be celebrated for their accomplishments.
“NFL players love their country, support our troops, give back to their communities and strive to make America a better place,” their statement read.

Trump canceled their visit Monday afternoon upon hearing that not all members of the team would attend, despite a smaller delegation still offering to come.
The Philadelphia Eagles Football Team was invited to the White House. Unfortunately, only a small number of players decided to come, and we canceled the event. Staying in the Locker Room for the playing of our National Anthem is as disrespectful to our country as kneeling. Sorry!

The president will still be attending the planned ceremony, saying he will not be celebrating the Eagles’ Super Bowl win, but “America” instead.
