Police make arrest in liquor store slashing

A Baltimore man has been charged with stabbing a woman to death in a Catonsville liquor store, Baltimore County police have announced.

David Aaron Briggs, of the 1100-block of Sedgewood Road, is charged with the first degree murder of Aysha Ring. Police said Briggs, 23, was identified with the help of surveillance camera footage at the Charing Cross liquor store, located on the 5200 block of Baltimore National Pike, as well as physical evidence found at his home during his arrest Monday night.

Ring, 24, of the unit-block of Chadnor Court, was standing at the liquor store counter, waiting to make a purchase around 4 p.m. Saturday, police said. Briggs approached her from behind and stabbed her in the neck with an unknown edged weapon, then fled from the store.

Ring was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she later died of her injuries.

Detectives said they still do not know Briggs’ motive. A court commissioner Tuesday morning denied Briggs bail, and he is being detained at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
