Clay Travis and Buck Sexton to take over Rush Limbaugh’s radio show

Clay Travis and Buck Sexton are set to continue Rush Limbaugh’s legacy with their own show in June.

The duo is set to begin The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show on June 21, and it will air on hundreds of stations nationwide. Travis and Sexton are conservative voices grappling with the void that was left in the media ecosystem following Limbaugh’s death on Feb. 17.

“I could not be more excited to step onto the biggest platform in radio with my fantastic co-host, Clay Travis,” Sexton told the Washington Examiner. “We’re going to do a show that will make Rush listeners proud and bring a new generation of audience to the table.”

Travis, 42, is a sports journalist, lawyer, television analyst, and the founder of the sports website Outkick.com. He’s hosted Outkick the Coverage with Clay Travis since 2016, which is syndicated to more than 350 affiliates nationwide.

Sexton, 39, worked for the CIA and as a New York Police Department counterterrorism expert before his broadcast career. He hosts The Buck Sexton Show and was a guest host for Limbaugh.

Travis acknowledged the news in a blog post on Outkick.

“No one ever replaces a legend, and Rush Limbaugh is the most influential and listened to radio voice across multiple generations,” he wrote. “But the battles Rush fought aren’t ending. If anything, they’re just becoming more intense. And I think intense and rigorous and intelligent debate has never been more important in this country than it is right now.”

“This is a secret both of us have been keeping quiet for months now. We’ve even done secret mock shows with each other in addition to the daily shows we’ve also been doing. Trust me on this, Buck is fantastic, and we are going to have the best daily conversations anywhere on radio. I’m 100% confident of this fact,” Travis added.

Cumulus Media’s Westwood One announced in March that conservative pundit Dan Bongino would fill the void left by Limbaugh’s death in some of its markets nationwide. His show debuted Monday.
