The Pentagon identified a soldier who died Saturday in Iraq due to injuries sustained "from a non-combat related incident."

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lee Smith, 35 years of age, of Arlington, Texas, died Nov. ‎11 at Camp Taji, Iraq, a statement sent out Sunday evening said.

Smith was assigned to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky., and was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. military's effort to combat the Islamic State.

Further details on the circumstances of his death were not given and the Defense Department said the incident is under investigation.

A British soldier was killed at Camp Taji, which is close to the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, in January.
