Maxine Waters: ‘I will never ever forgive’ black voters who vote for Trump

Rep. Maxine Waters said she will “never ever forgive” black voters who vote for President Trump’s reelection.

“He’s a racist. He does not have any appreciation for black people, and black women, in particular. He has talked about us so bad. He talked about John Lewis so bad,” Waters said on SiriusXM’s radio show The Joe Madison Show on Friday. “He has no respect for us. He’s not doing anything for us. And for those black young men who think somehow they can align themselves with Trump, not only are they terribly mistaken. Any of them showing their face, I will never ever forgive them for undermining the possibility to help their own people and their own communities. It is absolutely unconscionable. It is shameful.”

During the interview, she added that Trump has emboldened white supremacists and KKK members and that voters need to vote against the incumbent candidate, or the country will “go backwards.”

“I don’t know why they would be doing it. I don’t know what’s on their minds, but if we don’t turn out this vote, and turn it out huge, this man could end up winning again. And this country would go backwards,”

“The divisiveness that this deplorable human being has caused, the confrontation, the dog-whistling to the right-wing, the white supremacists, the KKK, and they’re coming alive,” she continued. “They’re emboldened because they’ve got a leader who wants them to do it. What did he say to the proud boys? Stand back and stand ready? Ready for what — confrontation? Give me a break, Joe. I thank you. I know you’re on it, doing everything that you can. We’ve got to shout it from the rooftops — vote, vote, vote.”

Trump adviser Jason Miller predicted this weekend that the president will get more than 10% of the black vote in 2020.

“Trump is going to get well over 10% of the black vote,” he said. “I think he’ll get over 20% of African American men. President Trump will probably get 40% of the Latino vote. The entire demographic shift within these parties, it’s a different world now.”

In 2016, Trump got support from 6% of black voters and 28% of the Hispanic vote, according to Pew Research.

Multiple rappers have signaled support for Trump in recent weeks, including Lil Wayne, who endorsed the president; Ice Cube, who is working with the administration on addressing issues concerning racial inequality; Lil Pump, who endorsed the president; and 50 Cent, who endorsed, then retracted his endorsement for Trump.
