Gorka claims a congressman said ‘I should be the next national security adviser’

Former White House staffer Sebastian Gorka claimed that a member of Congress suggested President Trump should name him the next national security adviser.

Gorka, 48, made the remark on his radio show America First Tuesday, hours after the president ousted John Bolton after over a year on the job.

“A certain congressman said I should be the next national security adviser. I’d love to see that congressman tweet it out. That would be most amusing to watch the heads explode amongst the Never Trump and liberal elite,” Gorka stated but opted not to reveal the identity of the member of Congress.

The president was asked about Bolton’s exit while he was fielding questions from reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. The president said that he “actually had a very good relationship” with Bolton, but added that “he wasn’t getting along with people in the administration that I consider very important.”

The acting national security adviser is Charles Kupperman, who was the deputy under Bolton’s time. He will be replaced once Trump appoints a permanent successor. Retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor and Ricky Waddell, assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have both been floated as potential replacements, the Washington Examiner previously reported.
