Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon will make an appearance later this month at the University of California at Berkeley campus during an event organized by conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos.
Bannon will join Yiannopoulos and a host of other speakers for a four-day event titled "Berkeley Free Speech Week" beginning Sept. 24. Event organizers anticipate more than two dozen speakers will attend, according to a press release issued Tuesday.
"Uncle Steve was the force behind [President] Trump's election victory and much of his initial policymaking," Yiannopoulos said in a statement. "Nothing could be better for the leftists who oppose Trump so vehemently than a lesson in the logic behind Trump's actions, directly from the architect of his policies."
Yiannopoulos has previously promoted the multi-day event as a gathering that will feature prominent bloggers, veterans and political activists from various political circles.
Bannon returned to his position as chairman of Breitbart News after exiting the West Wing last month. But in an interview with CBS' Charlie Rose on Sunday, he promised to support Trump from the outside.
UC Berkeley has been the site of multiple violent protests and clashes between various demonstrators in the months since Trump was elected.
