The day before the 75th anniversary of D-Day, singer Bette Midler compared her recent Twitter spat with President Trump to the ferocious Battle of the Bulge.
Trump tweeted Tuesday that Midler was a “washed up psycho” after she posted a fake quote disparaging Republican voters that was attributed to Trump.
Washed up psycho @BetteMidler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make “your great president” look really bad. She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!

“I want to thank everyone who came to my defense last night during my personal Battle of the Bulge with he who must not be named,” Midler, 73, tweeted Wednesday.
I want to thank everyone who came to my defense last night during my personal Battle of the Bulge with he who must not be named. Your wit and good nature really lifted my spirits; as a newly washed up psycho, I am very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

Milder has expressed her gratitude to the service members who risked their lives in the major invasion in France.
Midler has apologized for the misleading tweet, saying, “I apologize; this quote turns out to be a fake from way back in ‘15-16. Don’t know how I missed it, but it sounds SO much like him that I believed it was true!”
The actress also tweeted, “He actually looks better here! Maybe someone in his camp can gently give him a shiv. I mean, shove,” in response to Trump’s tweet.
The Battle of the Bulge took place in December 1944 as Adolf Hitler ordered the German army to make one last attempt to win against the Allied forces. The U.S. Army, while victorious in the end, suffered over 100,000 casualties.
