CNN appears to scrub Washington Redskins logo from Joe Biden photo

CNN aired a photo of Joe Biden with his young son from years ago that appears to have been edited to scrub the Washington Redskins logo from a hat.

Biden had shared the photo on Father’s Day this summer, which showed his son’s hat sporting the Washington Football Team’s former logo.

On Monday night, CNN shared the photo during its “Fight for the White House: Joe Biden’s Long Journey,” but the team’s logo was missing, according to Fox News.

The team has come under scrutiny for its name, prompting it to change its name temporarily during this year’s season as it hashes out a new permanent title.

“July 13, 2020 is now a historic day for all Indigenous peoples around the world as the NFL Washington-based team officially announced the retirement of the racist and disparaging ‘Redskins’ team name and logo,” Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said when the name change was announced in July. “This change did not come about willingly by the team’s owners, but by the mounting pressure and advocacy of Indigenous peoples such as Amanda Blackhorse, and many other warriors who fought long and hard for this change.”

CNN did not immediately return the Washington Examiner’s request for comment on the matter.
