Trump’s average approval rating hits highest mark in 2019’s second quarter

President Trump’s average approval rating hit its highest mark in the second quarter of 2019.

The president averaged a 42.7% approval rating from mid-April through mid-July, according to Gallup. The average does not include reactions to Trump’s fight with four progressive Democratic lawmakers earlier this week or the House resolution passed on Wednesday, largely along party lines, to condemn Trump.

A follow-up motion to impeach Trump failed on Wednesday by a vote of 332-95. The 95 votes to impeach all came from Democratic lawmakers.

Trump’s highest approval rating comes after the conclusion of the Mueller investigation. Ex-special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence that Trump or Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian agents to influence the 2016 election. The results were largely interpreted as a victory for the president, though details of some of Trump’s behavior outlined in the report brought criticism.

The approval results also include an escalating trade war with China that is beginning to strain U.S. agriculture, among other sectors of the U.S. economy.
