Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page condemned President Trump’s actions to address the protests that have been roaring throughout Washington, D.C.
On Monday, Trump had an assortment of law enforcement dispersed a crowd of protesters 15 minutes before the city’s curfew began so he could walk to St. John’s Episcopal Church one day after it suffered fire damage at the hands of rioters. In a tweet posted Tuesday, Page called Trump’s decisions “monstrous.”
“Yesterday, our monstrous, despicable president assaulted Americans engaged in peaceful protest for a photo op. He could be reelected,” she wrote. “I wrote a few mean texts four years ago and have been rained down with insults and attacks ever since. But I’m the f—ing coup plotter. Got it.”

Page and former FBI agent Peter Strzok were key players in the bureau’s investigation of the Trump campaign. In text messages, the two discussed the likelihood of a Trump presidency and how they could “stop it.”
Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded that the texts sent between the two “potentially indicated or created the appearance that investigative decisions were impacted by bias or improper considerations.” Horowitz, however, said there was no evidence that “improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specific investigative decisions.”
Page has since been on Trump’s list of enemies and has been ridiculed by the president for her actions while with the FBI. Page was not alone in calling Trump’s visit to St. John’s a “photo-op.” Several others, including an Arlington County official and CNN host Don Lemon, made the same accusation.
Protests against police brutality have broken out throughout the country following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Floyd died after being arrested by a Minneapolis officer who held him down by kneeling on his neck for several minutes.
