President Trump praised the decision from large companies and corporations to reward employees with higher bonuses and wages due to the passage of the GOP tax reform legislation earlier this week.

“Our big and very popular Tax Cut and Reform Bill has taken on an unexpected new source of “love” - that is big companies and corporations showering their workers with bonuses,” Trump tweeted Friday morning. “This is a phenomenon that nobody even thought of, and now it is the rage. Merry Christmas!”

Companies such as Wells Fargo, Boeing, Fifth Third Bancorp, Comcast, among others, revealed they would grant additional investments to their employees because of the tax reform legislation.

For example, Wells Fargo and Fifth Third Bancorp announced their minimum wage would be raised to $15 per hour. Fifth Third Bancorp also announced its more than 13,500 employees would be receiving a one-time bonus of $1,000.

The Senate approved the tax bill late Tuesday night and the House passed the measure for the second time on Wednesday. It is not certain when Trump will officially sign the legislation into law.
