Oprah, Rihanna fail to deliver black governors in Fla., Ga.

Democratic star power in several key races failed to deliver key wins and notably fell flat in helping Georgia and Florida elect African American governors despite polling and media predictions of victory.

Oprah Winfrey suffered an epic loss, and possibly a deadly blow to rumors of her 2020 presidential bid, when Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams lost to Republican Brian Kemp by nearly 2 percent.

She would have been the first black woman governor of Georgia.

At a midday press conference, Trump ripped Winfrey’s political efforts. “I do like Oprah, I do,” he said. Then he added, “Unfortunately, she didn’t do the trick.”

Pop stars Rihanna, Common, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and others who campaigned for Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, who would have been the state’s first black governor, saw their efforts fail when the Democrat lost to Rep. Ron DeSantis.

Megastar Taylor Swift’s surprise support for Tennessee Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen in his Senate race fell flat in his loss to Rep. Marsha Blackburn.
