A car crashed into the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C., Tuesday night.
The vehicle plowed into the Polish Embassy, but there were no casualties. The incident occurred hours after Poland considered sending fighter jets to Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
“A woman just drove her car into the gates of the Polish Embassy at 16th and Fuller,” one observer tweeted. “Didn’t see it happen but heard a huge boom and saw smoke from my apt. Driver is up and walking, another car is wrecked but driver also appears OK.”

“Our Embassy, the Secret Service, and the local police viewed the CCTV footage of the incident, and everything indicates that it was an ordinary traffic accident,” the embassy tweeted in response. “An investigation is underway. Thankful to law enforcement for their swift response.”

The Metropolitan Police Department told Fox News that the Secret Service was handling the investigation of the incident.
The crash occurred amid a series of negotiations between the Pentagon and Poland’s military regarding its role in helping defend Ukraine. Pentagon officials rejected a proposal from Poland to send its entire fleet of MiG-29s to a U.S. base in Germany before providing them to Ukraine’s military.
“We will continue to consult with Poland and our other allies about this issue and the difficult logistical challenges it presents, but we do not believe Poland’s proposal is a tenable one,” a Pentagon spokesperson said on Tuesday.
