President Trump is "very upset" with Amanda Knox, the American college student accused of murder while in Perugia, Italy, according to a long-time real estate friend of Trump.

George Lombardi, who emigrated to the U.S. from Italy in the 1970s, says the president is not pleased she voted for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in last year's election, according to a New York Times story published Friday.

Trump previously defended Knox in public statements, even having Lombardi study up on her case during a trip of his to Italy,

Lombardi is credited for his unofficial role in Trump's campaign creating groups on Twitter that supported his bid.
