Trump to pick Heather Nauert to replace Nikki Haley at UN: Report

President Trump is expected to pick State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to succeed Nikki Haley as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, according to multiple reports published late Thursday.

Trump, who said on Nov. 5 he would announce Haley’s replacement that week, has not yet announced his choice to represent the country to the international organization.

Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, announced in October she would be leaving her post after two years in the position.

Nauert, 48, was rumored early on as the likely pick for the job. In addition to spokeswoman, she serves as the State Department’s acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs. Prior to joining the administration, Nauert spent years as a television journalist, including as a co-host for Fox News.

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft, and former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell had all been reported as potential successors to Haley.
