Obama consoles parents of Brussels bombing victims

President Obama on Sunday called the parents of the two young Americans slain in last week’s Brussels terrorist attacks.

“The president this afternoon telephoned the parents of Justin and Stephanie Shults, two young Americans whose lives were taken in the horrific attacks in Brussels, to express his deepest condolences and those of the nation,” a White House officials said Sunday, according to a White House pool report.

“The president affirmed that Justin and Stephanie epitomized all that was good about America, and he told their parents that their tragic deaths have touched the hearts of all of us,” the official said.

“The president further assured them that the thoughts, prayers, strength, and resolve of the nation are with them at this difficult time.”

Secretary John Kerry confirmed Friday that Americans died in the attacks.
