SEATTLE (AP) — An Eastern Washington science teacher will learn Monday whether he won the national Teacher of the Year competition.
Jeff Charbonneau teaches at Zillah High School in the Yakima Valley, and is Washington state’s 2013 Teacher of the Year.

He is one of four finalists for the top teaching honors. The others are an English teacher from Maryland, a special-education teacher from Florida and a music teacher from New Hampshire.
The Seattle Times says (http://is.gd/ohOBoQ ) the 35-year-old started teaching at Zillah in 2001, the same school he attended as a teenager.
Charbonneau teaches chemistry, physics, engineering and architecture. He also runs a statewide robotics competition and serves as yearbook adviser for the 400-student school.
The winner will be recognized by President Obama in a White House ceremony.
