This week’s debut of the realistic national fight over religious freedom, God’s Not Dead 2, is being embraced by the faithful who say it is a wake up call for Christians and non-Christians unaware of governmental efforts to strip God from public life — and punish those who fight.
“God’s Not Dead 2 is chillingly realistic, a wake up call for Christians and non-Christians alike that the freedoms we have had as Americans for centuries are under assault. We see this movie becoming a movement, a moment where reasonable people will come together to advocate for tolerance, inclusiveness, and equality for all of the colors in our nation’s rich rainbow of diversity—including faith driven consumers,” said Chris Stone, founder of the group Faith Driven Consumer.
“Hollywood is offering more choices for faith audiences now than in a generation, and the box office is rewarding studios for creating content people want. The success of Risen and Miracles from Heaven are the latest proof points, and we believe God’s Not Dead 2 will be yet another hit,” he added.
Former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said it’s a “riveting film that could well be taken from the front pages of America’s newspapers.” He added, “I loves this film.”
Gordon Robertson, CEO of Christian Broadcasting Network, said in an endorsement, “If you care about freedom of conscience as a basic human right, then you need to see this movie.”
The movie features a familiar cast including former Sen. Fred Thompson, Melissa Joan Hart, and Hayley Orrantia, of “The Goldbergs.”
It tells of a simple reference to “Jesus” in a classroom becoming a major court case.
