Former President George H.W. Bush announced Monday that the Bush family had gained a new member as he shared a photo of his new service dog, Sully.
“A great joy to welcome home the newest member of our family, ‘Sully,’ a beautiful — and beautifully trained — lab from @AmericasVetDogs,” Bush tweeted Monday evening. “Could not be more grateful, especially for their commitment to our veterans.”

Sully can conduct tasks including answering phones and retrieving specific items. He was trained by the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs, which matches veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities with service dogs at no cost, according to CNN.
“As one person said, he can do just about anything except make you a martini, but not to worry, he can go get you someone to make you a martini!” said Jim McGrath, a Bush spokesperson.
Sully’s arrival comes after Bush, 94, was hospitalized several times in recent months. Bush also uses a wheelchair.
An Instagram account, @sullyhwbush, has already been launched that will follow Sully’s activities. The account is designed to illustrate the role of service dogs for those with disabilities.
