The Washington Examiner confirmed the addition of the “Zoom Dick Incident” entry through Wikipedia’s revision history page.
As of Monday evening, Toobin’s page no longer states “Zoom Dick Incident” but has a brief entry on the controversy under a section describing his career in law and journalism.
“On October 19, 2020, he was suspended from his position as a reporter at The New Yorker after he exposed his penis during a Zoom video call between The New Yorker staff and WNYC radio. He also asked CNN for some time off to deal with this personal issue,” his Wikipedia page states.
Toobin, 60, was suspended as a staff writer at the New Yorker on Monday after the incident.
“Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended while we investigate the matter,” New Yorker spokeswoman Natalie Raabe said of the suspension.
Toobin also works as CNN’s chief legal analyst and will take time off from the role, a CNN spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.
“Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” the representative said.
He has also apologized, saying he thought his camera was off when he exposed himself.
“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers.” He added: “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”
