Nearly 70% claim that cutting taxes is a top issue in the upcoming presidential election, and a majority believe that Democrat Joe Biden will raise them.
In the just-released Rasmussen Reports survey, 53% of likely voters said that Biden would boost taxes if he beats President Trump in November.
Just 28% believe Trump will raise taxes with most, 43%, believing taxes would “remain the same” under the Republican.
The survey found that 66% of Americans believe that promising to cut taxes is key to winning their vote. That includes 57% of Democrats.
Said the survey analysis, “Joe Biden has promised to raise taxes, and voters believe him. Voters are nearly twice as likely to think Biden will raise their taxes than President Trump will.”
The survey was released a day after the public had to file their 2019 returns. The date was slipped from the traditional April 15 deadline due to the coronavirus crisis.
Trump has made tax cuts a cornerstone of his legacy. He signed the 2017 tax cuts, ordered the end of the Obamacare “mandate,” and has proposed a payroll tax elimination for this year.
Just yesterday, the Republican National Committee broadened its promotion of the Trump tax cut agenda and focus on the sizable taxes Biden has promised to impose, including a record high corporate tax and the resumption of the Obamacare mandate.
