The Hill published a headline Thursday afternoon suggesting House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., may be open to the idea of a brokered GOP convention, but in reality he said the complete opposite.
The published headline read, “Ryan won’t rule out brokered GOP convention.”

But the Wisconsin lawmaker seemed pretty clear a brokered convention wouldn’t happen when he answered questions about this possibility.
“I think it’s ridiculous to talk about it,” he told the Hill.
The Hill’s headline seemed to be based only on Ryan’s unwillingness to guarantee with 100 percent certainty that there wouldn’t be a brokered convention.
“How do I know?” Ryan after being asked if he was “absolutely certain” there would be no brokered convention. “No one knows the answer to that question.”
The report even added later, “Some of Ryan’s House colleagues have suggested Ryan as a possible GOP nominee in the event of a deadlocked convention. But the Speaker has said there’s no chance that would happen.”
It continued, “The 2012 vice presidential nominee, Ryan assured reporters that the party apparatus would support whoever emerges as the nominee, whether that person is Trump or someone else.”
