Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is known for being gruff, but he doesn’t often walk out of interviews.
Sanders did just that Friday, getting up and leaving an interview with NBC affiliate 12 News when asked if he would consider the vice presidency. The Vermont senator decided the allotted four minutes was up and he was going to move on to his next Arizona event.
Sanders also defended his wife Jane for taking a tour of Maricopa County’s tent city with controversial Sherriff Joe Arpaio after some accused her of acting as a “prop” to spread the sheriff’s anti-immigration message.
“What Joe Arpaio is doing is an outrage. My wife went to go look at the so-called tent city, which is something that should not exist,” Sanders said. “The fact that he crashed her meeting is something that is very, very wrong. Not something he should have done.”
