An alligator forced a Florida school to pause its swim practice after the reptile appeared to try out for the swim team.
Montverde Academy’s practice was interrupted after a 3-foot long alligator jumped into the pool, according to a report.
The team had to wait as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office removed the reptile.

The alligator was pulled out of the pool via a safety hook, authorities said.
Following its removal, the alligator was taken to Lake Apopka, where no swim team is scheduled to practice.
“DFC Faust and Deputy Brownsberger responded to a call at Montverde Academy in reference to a 3-foot alligator that had decided to try out for the swim team, preventing the actual swim team from practicing,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement posted to Facebook.

“Deputy Brownsberger was able to use a safety hook to bring him to the edge where Deputy Faust reached down and grabbed the gator,” the post continued. “His mouth was then secured with electric tape and temporarily detained so they could safely transport him to Lake Apopka, where the gator was released on its own recognizance. No deputies or gators were hurt during the encounter.”
