» Defensive end Phillip Daniels (knee) and tight end Chris Cooley (back) both sat out the Wednesday morning practice. Both are expected to play vs. Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Daniels had fluid drained from his surgically-repaired left knee; Cooley awoke with back spasms, but said he likely would return to practice Thursday.
Daniels said this wasn’t a setback.

Player of note
Mike Williams • RT
Williams missed his second straight practice because of a sprained ankle. Fortunately for Williams it’s a low sprain, but coach Jim Zorn said he’s questionable for Saturday’s game vs. Pittsburgh. That’s not good news for a player who has been in and out of practice this camp because of various aches and pains. It’s hard to come back from three years of not playing by missing time.
Quarterback Watch
Colt Brennan
Brennan did not have his best day of red zone work Wednesday morning. He eyed tight end Todd Yoder the whole way on a pass to the back of the end zone and was intercepted by linebacker H.B. Blades. This followed a poor fade throw to 6-foot-4 Malcolm Kelly that was broken up by 5-foot-9 Justin Tryon. Brennan did not take advantage of the height mismatch and threw too shallow.
