Well, if you survived Thanksgiving, chances are you want to get out of the house. What is uncertain is if you’re looking to dive into the holiday season whole-hog, or would rather avoid it until December rolls around. Either way, we’ve got you covered. Five things to do this weekend:
Through January: Harbor Holidays at National Harbor
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it doesn’t feel so weird to see trees and decorations in our favorite big box store. Get in the spirit of things with Harbor Holidays at National Harbor starting on Friday. Friday features a tree lighting ceremony, light show and music. Also this season, check out Gaylord National’s Christmas on the Potomac and the show “Ice,” both through Jan. 9. Times and prices vary — some activities are free — visit nationalharbor.com for more information.
The Season is Here: “A Christmas Carol” has already opened at Ford’s Theater. Go see it, now. fords.org.
Saturday: Lisa Lampanelli, Whitney Cummings and Jeffrey Ross at the Warner Theatre
After spending a day arguing with the family, no doubt you’re going to want to spend a night laughing with some strangers. Thank goodness for the “Hot Off the Roast Tour” coming to the Warner Theatre on Saturday, featuring Lisa Lampanelli, Whitney Cummings and Jeffrey Ross. All seats are $45.75. Show is at 7 p.m. Visitwarnertheatre.com for more info.
More funny: Huggy Lowdown and Chris Paul are at the DC Improv this weekend. dcimprov.com.
Saturday: Cyndi Lauper & KT Tunstall at the 9:30 Club
No, these two aren’t playing together, just back-to-back. Lauper, of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” fame still entertains nearly 30 years after her breakout hit. She performs at 6 p.m., and tickets are $45. Scottish singer-songwriter Tunstall might be best known for that catchy “Suddenly I See” song a couple of years back. She goes on at 10 p.m., and tickets are $25. Visit 930.com for more info.
More 9:30: The recurring No Scrubs ’90s dance party is back on Friday, 9 p.m., $15.
Through Sunday: ‘The Odd Couple’ at Theater J
This is the final weekend to catch this performance of the Tony Award-winning Neil Simon classic. You know the story: Felix Madison and Oscar Ungar have to live together, and hilarity ensues. This show at the Washington, D.C. Jewish Community Center’s Theater J has received some warm reviews. See it for yourself. Show times and ticket prices vary. Visit washingtondcjcc.org for more info.
Also closing: “Henry VIII” at Folger Theater concludes on Sunday as well. folger.edu.
Through Jan. 9: Andy Warhol: The Last Decade at the Baltimore Museum of Art
This is where you trump everyone. Instead of flocking to the malls, shopping centers and other forms of consumerism torture, instead head up to Baltimore this weekend to check out this Warhol exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Witness some of the pop artist’s amazing works and see how he evolved during the last decade of his life. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. $15.
If you’re in Baltimore: Rams Head Live hosts the Charm City Devils on Friday and Jah Works on Saturday. ramsheadlive.com.
