President Trump said Wednesday his administration “stands in solidarity” with residents in Orange County, Calif., considering joining the U.S. government’s lawsuit against California for legislation that protects illegal immigrants in the overwhelmingly blue state or filing its own suit.
“California’s Sanctuary laws… release known dangerous criminals into communities across the State. All citizens have the right to be protected by Federal law and strong borders,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
My Administration stands in solidarity with the brave citizens in Orange County defending their rights against California’s illegal and unconstitutional Sanctuary policies. California’s Sanctuary laws….

Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson on Tuesday voiced his opposition to the state’s legal framework, which in many cases instructs local police not to cooperate with federal immigration agents.
Earlier in March, the small city of Los Alamitos in Orange County voted to opt out of California’s sanctuary state policy that was imposed late last year as the Trump administration ratcheted up its anti-illegal immigration rhetoric.
The move by Los Alamitos followed Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, D-Calif., warning illegal immigrants living in her city in February of a possible impending Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid.
