Denver’s Palm imports some D.C. help

You’re never far from the one you love

Loyal patrons of Washington, D.C.’s Palm restaurant may have had to suffer the indiginity of being away from their favorite power lunch spot, but the D.C. restaurant made sure that you wouldn’t feel too out of place here in Denver: They sent Larry Cheramie, the private dining room captain in D.C.’s Palm restaurant to Denver’s Palm.

Cheramie was asked by the general manager of Denver’s Palm restaurant to help out during the Democratic National Convention. “It’s a great opportunity for me,” Cheramie told Yeas & Nays. “I knew that D.C. would be kind of dead this week and a lot of our customers were going to be here, so I get to really experience something different. I’ve never done a convention before.”

This week, Cheramie saw plenty of D.C. regulars stop by the Denver restaurant — James Carville, Sen. John Kerry, Dick Gephardt — and some real world celebs too: Tony Bennett and Star Jones.

Since The Palm doesn’t have a restaurant in St. Paul, it’s back to D.C. for Cheramie after this week, but fear not: Denver didn’t impress him enough to want to permanently leave D.C.

“DC has a special place in my heart,” said Cheramie. “Tommy Jacomo is the great maitre d’ I’ve ever worked with.”
