A second young girl has died after a Hyattsville house fire. Prince George’s County fire and emergency services said 13-year-old Kelli Hernandez died Monday from injuries suffered in the Jan. 19 blaze. Her sister, 9-year-old Kimberly Hernandez, died the day of the fire.
Their two other sisters, ages 4 and 13, were hospitalized, but have been released, fire department spokesman Mark Brady said.
The blaze broke out at the family’s home on the 4700 block of 40th Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Fire officials say the blaze was accidental, but have not provided further details.
The fire department said Kelli was rescued by firefighters from her second-floor bedroom. She died at a shock trauma center in Baltimore.
