Search for ‘Catching Fire’ director down to two candidates

The wait for “Hunger Games” fans might be over.

Lionsgate says they are close to naming a director for “Catching Fire,” the follow up to the current No. 1. movie in America. Gary Ross, director of the first film, left due to a conflict over the production schedule for the second film.

The two in the running are Bennett Miller, who directed “Moneyball,” and Francis Lawrence (no relation to “Games” star Jennifer Lawrence), director of “Water for Elephants” and “I Am Legend.” Deadline predicts that Miller will be the likely victor.
