Poll: Clinton takes double digit lead on Trump in Pennsylvania

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expanding her lead over Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, according to a new Franklin & Marshall poll released Tuesday.

Over the past month, Clinton has upped her lead by 2 points and now leads with 49 percent support to Trump’s 38 percent. Since F&M’s previous poll, Trump’s support has remained static at 38 percent while Clinton’s jumped from 47 percent.

However, the vast majority of the polling was conducted before FBI Director James Comey announced Friday the re-examination of the Clinton email investigation after new emails, which were found on devices owned by Anthony Weiner and top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, were discovered in an unrelated investigation.

The poll also comes out ahead of Trump’s visit to Valley Forge, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia, where he and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence are set to deliver remarks on Obamacare. Republicans have hammered the law for the average 25 percent increase in premiums that are expected in states that use the federal Obamacare marketplace.

The poll of 652 likely voters, which was conducted from Oct. 26-30, has a margin of error of +/-5.1 percent.

According to the latest RealClearPolitics average, Clinton holds a 6-point lead in the Keystone State, leading with 47.2 percent support to 41.2 percent for Trump.

On the Senate side, Katie McGinty has taken a 12-point advantage over Sen. Pat Toomey in his bid for re-election, according to the Franklin & Marshall poll. McGinty holds a 4-point lead over the incumbent Republican in the latest RCP average (44.8-40.8 percent).
