U.S. Park Police said the man who set himself on fire outside of the White House died from injuries.
Police identified the man as Arnav Gupta, 33, from Bethesda, Md., as the victim.
Gupta had gone missing from his home Wednesday morning and Montgomery County detectives had asked the public to be on the lookout for the man, saying they were concerned about his well-being.

The U.S. Secret Service reported that it had responded at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday to a man setting himself on fire near the Ellipse near 15th Street and Constitution Avenue.
The Secret Service and Park Police had administered first aid to Gupta and rushed him to the hospital. No motive has been given yet.
