GOP spokesman can party with all parties

One way to forget past rivalries — over some drinks, of course.

Both political parties came out to party in Georgetown Friday night, wishing their “good-byes” to Tucker Bounds, the former spokesman to 2008 presidential nominee John McCain. Bounds is leaving for California this week to start work on another Republican campaign — Meg Whitman’s run for the state’s Republican gubernatorial bid.

Joining Bounds at his home were long-time McCain advisor Mark Salter, national communications director Jill Hazelbaker and spokesman Brian Rogers, all of whom were spotted mingling with Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau and spokesman Tommy Vietor.

But how could you not put the past behind you when Bounds was offering his guests strong mojitos made by a bartender recommended by former McCain press secretary Melissa Shuffield, Neil Young on the iPod, and towers of Georgetown cupcakes and Rocklands BBQ ribs?

The top conversation starter between people of all political viewpoints: his dining room’s bright red floral wallpaper.
