| I already did one “troop surge” cartoon around Christmas, but with the president’s big policy speech tomorrow, I thought it would be important to revisit the issue. There will be plenty of debate — and there already has been a lot — after the address among Americans, I’m sure. It’s a big moment for the nation, as well as for the fighting men and women who may be sent to Iraq and those who are already in the thick of the battle.
Drawing-wise, this cartoon was a headache. There’s a lot going on in it and it uses three-point perspective, which is always tricky. Plus, I’ve always hated drawing buildings. It’s like being forced to eat your spinach as a kid: You know it’s healthy for you, but you just can’t stand to eat it. I like spinach now … but buildings still make me go “blech!” |
