Hillary Clinton raised a total of $40 million in May, the most the Democratic presidential candidate has pulled in since last summer. It’s the second month in a row that Clinton outraised her rival Bernie Sanders.
Hillary for America took in $27 million in primary funds and $13.5 million for the Democratic National Committee and state parties, according to a statement from the campaign. She finished just above 10 percent more than her $36 million haul in April.
“Thanks to the continued support of more than 1.3 million people across the country we have the resources we need to run a winning general election campaign and build on the smart investments we made during the primary,” Hillary for America campaign manager Robby Mook said.
The former secretary of state has surpassed $240 million in total primary funds and given more than $62 million to the DNC. She currently has $42 million on hand.
Sanders has not released his May numbers yet, but dropped in April below Clinton due to the increasingly difficult chance of his winning the nomination.
Sanders raised $25.8 million in April, down more than half from his $44 million haul in March.
