There’s no doubt about the worst “Monday Night Football” game between Dallas and Washington. It was 2001, when both teams were 0-4 and the Cowboys beat the Martyskins 9-7 on three field goals by Tim Seder. What about the best? Here are seven: 7. Redskins 33, Cowboys 31 (1991) » Washington battled back from a 21-10 deficit as Chip Lohmiller kicked field goals of 53, 52, 46 and 45 yards.
6. Redskins 9, Cowboys 5 (1978) » In Jack Pardee’s first season, Joe Theismann backpedaled into the end zone, taking a safety as the Redskins opened 5-0.
5. Redskins 35, Cowboys 16 (1993) » Richie Petitbon’s debut as coach was not a preview of coming attractions.
4. Cowboys 31, Redskins 30 (1983) » Darrell Green ran down Tony Dorsett on a breakaway, but the defending Super Bowl champs blew a 23-3 halftime lead.
3. Redskins 14, Cowboys 13 (2005) » Mark Brunell found Santana Moss twice in the final four minutes. Priceless.
2. Redskins 13, Cowboys 7 (1987) » It was the quintessential statement of the genius of Bobby Beathard and Joe Gibbs as a ragtag collection of replacement Redskins beat the Cowboys with scabs Dorsett, Danny White, Randy White and Ed “Too Tall” Jones. The game was so intriguing it inspired a movie.
1. Redskins 14, Cowboys 7 (1973) » In the first Redskins-Cowboys “MNF” game, Ken Houston calf-roped Walt Garrison at the 1-yard-line, preserving the victory.
