A six-part miniseries coming to HBO on April 25 will detail the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force.
We Own This City is based on the work of Justin Fenton, a former Baltimore Sun reporter, and will be brought to HBO by David Simon and George Pelecanos, the duo who wrote and produced The Wire.
The miniseries “chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force and the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work,” according to a Tuesday press release by WarnerMedia.

Jenkins was the former leader of the task force who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2017 following his guilty plea to charges of federal racketeering for robbing citizens, performing searches without warrants, and seizing drugs that he then gave to a colleague to be resold, according to a report.
