D.C. Council member — and self-described major Madonna fan — Michael Brown gave up his tickets to a Madonna concert for a good cause. T.H.E.’s Wanda Alston House, the only dedicated space in D.C. for GLBTQ homeless and at-risk teens, received two tickets allotted for Brown to Madonna’s Monday concert at the Verizon Center.
According to Brown’s communications director, David Meadows, the council member wanted to “highlight a worthwhile charity,” even if it meant missing a chance to see his second-favorite pop star of the 1980s. (Michael Jackson is first.) Brown’s favorite Madge song? “Like a Virgin.” “He remembered watching the video when it first premiered and how everyone was so excited about Madonna,” Meadows said. “Big Madonna fan.”
