Adam Schiff deflects Sarah Sanders swipe, zings Trump for ‘trying to dodge’ questions under oath

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., fired back at White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Tuesday after she said during the briefing that the White House tries to steer clear of the top Democrat.

“If you’re not concerned, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, why won’t the President agree to an interview with Bob Mueller? His protestations of ‘no collusion, no obstruction’ would be more convincing if he wasn’t trying to dodge answering questions under oath,” Schiff tweeted.

Sanders was responding to a reporter asking about Schiff’s suggestion that leaked proposed questions from special counsel Robert Mueller appear to be focused on obstruction of justice.

“We here at the White House try never to be concerned with anything dealing with Adam Schiff,” Sanders said Wednesday.

Mueller’s team is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Only media reports have indicated that he might also be looking into possible obstruction of justice.

Schiff is the top Democrat in the House Intelligence Committee and has been at odds with President Trump since before he took office. Trump has attacked Schiff multiple times on Twitter, calling him “sleazy,” a “leaker,” and a “liar.”
