Gov. Linda Lingle of Hawaii told the Examiner yesterday that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is, “as good as she seems,” and will have a chance to prove it to the nation during the homestretch of this campaign.
Herself a governor who rose from small-town politics and has maintained a phenomenal approval rating, Lingle is a woman who’s broken a few glass ceilings herself. She’s the first Republican governor of Hawaii since the ’60s, the first female governor of the state, and the first Jewish governor of the state. She’s been mentioned by journalists and analysts as one of the “more experienced” Republican women who might be offended at being passed over for Palin, but Lingle sounded enthusiastic.
“I’ve known her for a long time…she’s tough but gracious.”
