Sorry, CNN, but Senate Judiciary Democrats definitely did take Michael Avenatti seriously

Democrats eagerly promoted a woman who claimed she witnessed Justice Brett Kavanaugh engage in gang rapes when he was just 15 years old. Don’t let them or anyone in the news media forget it.

In September and October, during the height of the fight over Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, Democratic lawmakers championed three women who accused the judge of sexual misconduct. Taken together, their stories established a pattern of monstrous and obviously disqualifying behavior, Democratic lawmakers said.

They stood behind Christine Blasey Ford, who alleges Kavanaugh tried to rape her when they were both in high school. Democrats also supported Deborah Ramirez, who claimed the judge exposed himself during a drinking game when they were students at Yale. They even rallied behind the third woman, Julie Swetnick, who claims most unbelievably that she witnessed Kavanaugh mastermind the gang rape of multiple girls when he was 15.

None of the allegations have been verified or corroborated in any meaningful way. The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee has even referred Swetnick to the Justice Department for a criminal investigation, saying she may have provided materially false statements and obstructed a federal investigation.

Though the attention Democrats gave the three allegations varied, they nevertheless cited them publicly and officially during their four-week-long crusade to derail the Kavanaugh confirmation.

It comes as a bit of a surprise, then, to see CNN senior congressional correspondent Manu Raju tweet this weekend that the allegations Democrats took “seriously” were from “Christine Blasey Ford and Debbie Ramirez, who have not been referred to DOJ for a potential criminal probe.”

Notice a name missing?

For the record, Democrats absolutely did rally behind the nonsense pushed by porn lawyer Michael Avenatti, which is pretty funny considering the gang-rape malarkey helped push moderate GOP Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, into supporting Kavanaugh.

Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told CNN’s Jake Tapper that it was crucial for the FBI to include Swetnick’s “credible” allegation in its reopened background check on Kavanaugh.

The ranking Democrat on the committee, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., made Swetnick’s ludicrous story a part of the public record during a nationally televised congressional hearing on Sept. 27.

“Swetnick came forward to say that she had experiences of … seeing Kavanaugh engage, and I quote, ‘in abusive and physically aggressive behavior toward girls,’” the senator said.

She added, in an effort to establish a pattern of misconduct, “Each of these stories are troubling on their own and each of these allegations should be investigated by the FBI.”

The Democrats on the committee even signed a letter calling on the FBI to investigate Swetnick’s story. The letter’s signatories included Sens. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Cory Booker, D-N.J., Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Feinstein, Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Hirono, Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I.

I’m sure it’s just a mistake that Raju managed somehow to forget that top-ranking Democrats willingly lined up behind the most absurd and laughable of three main allegations against Kavanaugh. It must’ve slipped his mind.

It’s just a total mystery how this stuff keeps happening!
