Over the weekend, the new film about the Benghazi terrorist attacks, 13 Hours, was released. The film includes the account that commandos called in were told to “stand down,” but, as Politico reported in a thorough piece, the Democrats are disputing that account.
In doing so, the Democrats are calling the special forces, who were there, liars.
Politico talked to one of those men, former Special Forces Officer Kris Paronto. He said that “those words were used verbatim — 100 percent. … If the truth of it affects someone’s political career? Well, I’m sorry. It happens.”
Later in the piece Politico also writes:
But Paronto and his former teammates dismissed those findings as not credible, because they said investigators never interviewed people who were on the ground — including him and his former teammates.
The Politico piece acknowledged that “Paronto and the other rescuers remember it differently, and the movie tells their side of the story.” They also spoke with committee members from both sides of the aisle, whose responses seem to reflect their party affiliation.
Earlier in the piece it is noted that there are those in a tough place, namely the GOP, who face a decision of calling Paronto and the other Americans there liars, or of disputing the statements from “some big-name intelligence officials.” It looks like the Democrats have made their choice.
Speaking of the Democrats, their front-runner for president (though not amongst all demographics) and Secretary of State at the time of the attack, Hillary Clinton, is hardly mentioned in the piece. Neither Benghazi nor the film were brought up at Sunday night’s debate, either.
Hillary was asked about the film though by Jake Tapper for State of the Union. As he asked her, Tapper described the film, also emphasizing it was “a nonfiction book.” She responded, after a pause and with a laugh, that “I’m just too busy campaigning.”
In his unhappy reporting of the response, Jay Caruso for RedState pointed out that Hillary has had time for Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, and to appear on LifeTime to be interviewed by YouTube stars. She’s made several talk show appearances actually. Caruso forgot (though who could blame him) Hillary’s interview with Lena Dunham.
Unfortunately, her cavalier attitude regarding the Benghazi situation has won over Democrats, though it’s doubtful such diehard supporters would abandon her now if they haven’t yet. After Hillary was interviewed by the Benghazi committee, many in the media, whether they saw her as victim or victor, took her side, including Politico. And, Hillary’s tweet during a GOP debate showed her brushing a piece of lint off her shoulder while being interviewed was one of the most retweeted that night.

But, let Hillary spend her time campaigning. She’s likely going to need it.
