First the Democratic Party used Michelle Obama’s 51st birthday Saturday to raise money, and now the first lady is paying the party back.
In a new fundraising email, Obama is promoting her husband’s Tuesday State of the Union Address to ask for checks up to $2,000.
Her email, shown below, links to a fundraising page that reads, “In 2015, President Obama is fighting to protect the change we’ve made, while working to make even more. He can’t do it without our help. Support President Obama’s agenda by making a donation to Democrats today.”
From the first lady:
Friend —
Yesterday was my 51st birthday, and I was overwhelmed by all of the warm wishes I received from folks across the country.
Your kindness and support reminded me of how amazing our team is, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m so excited about what’s coming up next.
In two days, Barack gives his State of the Union speech — a speech that gives him the chance to think big, talk about the future, and describe his plan of action to get things done.
With less than two years left on this amazing journey, it is so important for all of us to stand together to keep on moving this country forward and making that change we all believe in.
So if you still have Barack’s back, then stand with us today by adding your name here.
Thanks so much — and don’t forget to watch the address this Tuesday.
Michelle
