A D.C. police officer pleaded guilty to helping steal money and drugs from a Northwest Washington apartment.
Jennifer Green, 28, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary, a felony, in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday.
Green was arrested in a sting operation in March. Prosecutors said she met with a cooperating witness at a D.C. nightclub on March 4, and the pair planned to steal money and drugs from an apartment near Georgia Avenue and Quincy Street NW the next night.
Green was off-duty at the time, and brought her police radio with her to monitor the department’s communications, prosecutors said. She acted as a lookout while the witness entered the apartment and then told Green he had taken cash and drugs from inside. Green was arrested that night.
As part of her plea agreement, Green is resigning from the police department. She joined the force in September 2005.
She is scheduled to be sentenced July 6 and could receive up to five years in prison.
