Just because I left it out of the Michal Neuvirth injury posts earlier: Caps coach Bruce Boudreau had no real update on the status of forward Jay Beagle, who was dropped to the ice in last Thursday’s fight in Pittsburgh by Arron Asham. Haven’t seen Beagle since and he hasn’t been made available to the media. Boudreau did say over the weekend that the swelling in Beagle’s face had diminished considerably. But they are taking concussion precautions.
It appeared Beagle was briefly knocked out by the two rights from Asham. But he has been coming into the team’s practice facility in Arlington every day. Boudreau said he spoke with Beagle, who celebrated his 26th birthday over the weekend, on Monday morning.
“He’s feeling fine. This is just the protocol that keeps going,” Boudreau said.
But Boudreau had yet to speak with head trainer Greg Smith about Beagle returning to practice this week. The protocol Boudreau spoke about is a combination “of the league thing and what we do, what Greg’s protocol is and through our doctors and through our organization.”
