In a round robin game of poker on Tuesday night for the Sixth Annual Bad Beat on Cancer Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament, the politicians got a representative to the final round.
Among 130 players — including actual poker pros and Reps. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., Jim McGovern, D-Mass., Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., and Joe Crowley, D-N.Y. — joined in a poker game void of gambling.
Many thought Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, would make it to the final round, especially because he is known for playing every night, all night (not for money) and enjoys frequent trips to Vegas, but it was Rep. Jim Langevin, D-R.I., who made it to the top 10.
The grand prize for the event, hosted by the Prevent Cancer Foundation, was a seat at the World Series of Poker main event.
