Political junkies (and journalists) not yet worn out by the hyperactive 2010 election cycle in Virginia are in luck: Redistricting battles are just around the corner.
In light of the redistricting process to take place next year in the Commonwealth after the 2010 Census Data is released, the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project, which tracks political money in the state, has a new “Redistricting portal” up on its website to guide citizens through the process.
With a Democratic State Senate and a Republican House of Delegates, redistricting seats for both those chambers as well as Congress could prove contentious.
A primer on the process can be found here, and maps on how state House, state Senate, and Congressional districts could look following the release of the Census data can be found here.
