Washington Examiner readers have helped authorities capture two violent criminals this month, and U.S. marshals are hoping you can keep the streak going.
Meet Muhamed Yunusa Savage. Deputies say the 30-year-old Savage has a long history of stealing cars and fleeing from police and in 2003 was convicted of vehicular manslaughter in Wicomico County. Savage was under the supervision of the Maryland Parole Commission for the manslaughter charges in 2009, when he was arrested in Prince George’s County on larceny charges that involved a stolen vehicle. He failed to show up for court, and now the members of the U.S. marshals task force are looking for him.
“Savage has a long history of being a menace on the roadways,” said Supervisory Inspector Matthew Burke. “We just got some great tips that helped us arrest one of our fugitives this week. We’d like to get a nice streak going with the arrest or surrender of Savage this week.”
Savage, who was born in Gambia, is also known as Moe. He is described as 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds. His rap sheet includes arrests for vehicle theft, reckless driving and drug charges.
Savage has lived in Lanham and in Silver Spring on Castle Terrace, University Boulevard West and Oak Leaf Drive.
Anyone with information on Savage’s whereabouts is urged to call or the U.S. Marshals Service at 301-489-1717 or 800-336-0102.
Examiner readers have provided information to the Capital Area Fugitive Task Force that has led directly to the arrests of 26 fugitives featured in the Crime & Punishment pages. The feature runs weekly.
The task force, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, is composed of 30 federal, state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk. The unit has captured more than 33,000 wanted fugitives.
