Majority of Americans say Trump has good relationship with Vladimir Putin: Poll

A majority of Americans consider President Trump to have a good relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and some even believe Trump has a stronger relationship with Putin than leaders such as United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Theresa May, a new poll revealed.

According to a new Monmouth University poll, 27 percent of Americans claim that Trump has a stronger relationship with Putin than any other world leader.

In comparison, only 6 percent claimed Trump has the best relationship with May, and another 6 percent said that Trump has the best relationship with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Additionally, 60 percent of Americans claimed Trump had a good relationship with Putin and 59 percent said Trump had a good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

However, a majority of respondents claimed that Trump had a bad relationship with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. A total of 55 percent said Trump had a bad relationship with the Canadian leader, while 27 percent said the two had a good relationship.

The poll comes after Trump attacked Trudeau at the conclusion of the G-7 summit last weekend, claiming Trudeau was “meek and mild” during the summit.

The poll included a random sample of 806 adults and was conducted from June 12-13. The survey’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Since last May, special counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin.
